International Society for Conversation Analysis
The International Society for Conversation Analysis has been created as a non-profit international membership organization following broad endorsement of the idea by scientific committee members and plenary speakers of the past two ICCAs. The officers of the organization are to be elected in the month following ICCA to allow all members to be part of the process. Nominations for officers have been solicited from previous members of ICCA’s scientific advisory board. ISCAs stated goals are:
1. to promote conversation analysis around the world as an approach to the study of social interaction
2. to cooperate with national and regional societies studying language and social interaction
3. to invite and support the institutionalization of conversation analysis as an academic field at universities, research, and teaching institutions on all levels
4. to organize regular general conferences
5. to organize or support summer/winter schools and specialized meetings on conversation analysis and the broader study of social interaction
6. to support student and faculty training in conversation analysis
As a membership organization whose leadership is elected, ISCA’s success depends on everyone's willingness to contribute time and energy to this enterprise. The general assembly scheduled for Tuesday, July 6th at 16.30 will be to inform members of the status of the organization, nominated officers, the election process, ideas for future work and to solicit your hopes, aspirations and goals for such an organization. All registered ICCA participants will be invited to join ISCA and participate in the election of officers. We hope you will attend the first general assembly of ISCA
