How to get there

Mannheim and the Rhine Neckar Metropolitan Region: A Home for Innovation in the Heart of Europe.

While Mannheim and the surrounding Rhine Neckar Metropolitan Region are perhaps not as well known as other German cities, it offers both outstanding industrial heritage and a diverse natural beauty.

Internationally renowned companies such as BASF, SAP, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen or Roche Diagnostics emerged from this area. Today, 50 % of Germany’s Top-500 companies are based within 250 km of Mannheim. Innovative geniuses and entrepreneurs are also embedded in Mannheim's history: Carl Benz built the world's first automobile only a few miles outside the city. Also the bicycle was invented here.

Mannheim's vibrant cultural life together with the surrounding area with an abundance of recreational opportunities makes it the place to be in the heart of Europe. The Palatinate, Germany's largest wine-growing region, Heidelberg with its romantic flair and the Odenwald’s many castles are close to the city. Frankfurt, the financial hub of Germany, is less than an hour away by car or train.

Visiting Mannheim Palace

Arrival by car

Mannheim is situated close to the freeways A5 and A6. From the freeway junction "Mannheim" on the A6 take the exit "Mannheim City" (Mannheim Stadtmitte), and then follow the signs towards the train station (Hauptbahnhof) and University (Universität). The road will lead you into the city, passing the train station on your left. 700 m after the train station you will see the castle on your left handside. This is the University of Mannheim. Continue straight ahead past the castle until you encounter a bridge. Pass the bridge on the right and make a u-turn directly underneath it. You should now be facing the university again. Straight ahead before you reach the castle, you should find an entrance to the underground parking ("Mensa") on the right handside.

Arrival by train

Mannheim can easily be reached by Inter-City-Express-trains (ICE) or various other trains. Leaving the train station, you will have to go straight to the major road intersection you will see ahead of you. Please turn left into "Bismarckstrasse" and after about 700 meters you reached your destination.
