
Speyer Sightseeing Tour

This tour will take you to Speyer, one of Germany’s oldest cities and features the most interesting and historically significant sights of the city: Speyer Cathedral and the picturesque Old Town.
Founded as a Roman camp in 10 BC, Speyer is a historically and culturally significant city located on the Upper-Rhine. Counting approximately 50,000 inhabitants, the city belongs to the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Speyer is well-known for its world famous historical building, the Speyer Cathedral whose crypt has been the final resting place for famous emperors, kings and queens and bishops. In 1981, Speyer Cathedral became part of the UNESCO World Heritage and remains the largest intact Romanesque church in the world.
Your guided tour of Speyer Cathedral, which will also take you to the historical crypt, will last for approximately one hour. Subsequently your tour of the old town of Speyer will start. For refreshments in between tours, we can recommend the following restaurants and cafés which are all centrally located in downtown Speyer: "Café Schlosser"; "Café Hindenburg"; café and restaurant "Triumphalis"; "Restaurant Goldener Hirsch"; restaurant and wine tavern "Zur alten Münz".
Details of the tour: You will be picked up by a coach at the Ehrenhof (Court of Honor) of Mannheim Palace. The tours of Speyer Cathedral and of the Old Town will each take approximately one hour. In between tours, there will enough time to saunter through downtown Speyer and get some refreshments. At 17.30, you will be driven back to Mannheim Palace.
