Tour of the Pfungstädter Brewery

Monday, July 5 from 15.00 until 18.00

This tour of a typical German brewery will let you in on the secrets of producing the world-famous German beer.

Pfungstadt, located between Frankfurt and Heidelberg, is embedded in the picturesque landscape ranging between the hills of the Odenwald, a low mountain range, and the wide plains of the Hessian Reed. The city is not only particularly rich in numerous leisure facilities and cultural place of interest but also famous for its outstanding hospitality.

Justus Hildebrand founded the Pfungstädter Brewery in his hometown Hahn next to Pfungstadt in 1831. The trained master brewer opened a restaurant and started to brew his own beer which soon became well-known for its excellent quality and taste. Yet, Justus Hildebrand realized quickly that he needed deep and cool cellars for the production of the kind of bottom-fermented beer which he preferred by him which he couldn't build in the city of Hahn because of its high ground-water level. Therefore in 1846, he moved his brewery to Pfungstadt where the prestigious brewery is still located.

During your one-hour tour you will learn and witness all details of the art of brewing German beer. Subsequently, you will have the opportunity of tasting the Pfungstädter beer.
